Working With Youth

In this unit we explore some of the theories, concepts, models and philosophical perspectives that inform how youth development practitioners work and explore some of the settings in which they do their work, in communities and in organizations. The unit will also introduce you to frameworks within which communities and organizations may be understood and, in addition, examine the socio-political dynamics that affect communities and organizations.

While working through this unit, you will be expected to carry out research on the key topics and issues related to working in community and organizational settings and discuss these with your peers on the discussion board. As you read while doing your research, you should try to make connections between the readings and the nature of the settings in which youth development practitioners carry out their work.
